No. 2 High School of East China Normal University, founded in 1958, is a “key high school” in Shanghai that is under the direct auspices of the country’s Ministry of Education. The school campus, covering an area of 100,238 square meters, is now located in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park of Pudong, enjoying convenient transportation. Constructed in 2002 with a budget of RMB2.7 million, the school set up its first-class facilities. It serves as a boarding school currently with over 1400 students and a staff of 180.
The school offers several first-class facilities including: Office Building, Teaching Building, Library and Information Building,Indoor Swimming Pool, Lab Building, Art Building, Observatory, Conference Hall, Music Hall that holds 500 people, 400-meter Plastic Cement Race Track, Standard-size Football Field, Athletic Field, Tennis Courts, Badminton Courts, Basketball Courts, Volleyball Courts,Dormitory Building with 400 , each housing 2 people,Dining Center and a Chain convenience store.
Besides, our school is ahead of other similar schools in the international promotion of the Chinese language, being a base school of “the international promotion of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools” established by the country’s Office of Chinese Language Council International, known as Hanban in Chinese for short, (also serving as Confucius Institute Headquarters) and one of the first schools of “Chinese Language Education Bases” set up by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government. What’s more, China’s Hanban established an HSK test center at our school in April, 2007 and up to now, the number of candidates who have taken tests and trainings of all kinds at our center has reached 3,800.
