First, please allow us to extend a warm greeting to you all on behalf of our school, No. 2 High School of East China Normal University (also known as Erfuzhong in Chinese for short)! And now, we would like to give you an introduction to our school’s summer camp.
No. 2 High School of East China Normal University is a key middle school under the direct auspices of China’s Ministry of Education. It is an advanced group in the education system of the country. Also, it is representative of reform and innovation in the elementary education as well as of the pursuit of excellence.The 26 gold medals for the International Olympiads our students have won over the years obviously show the result of our education for the elite.Accordingly, our school has won a famous brand name, which keeps radiating its effect. We believe you know our school quite well.
Besides, our school is ahead of other similar schools in the international promotion of the Chinese language, being a base school of “the international promotion of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools” established by the country’s Office of Chinese Language Council International, known as Hanban in Chinese for short, (also serving as Confucius Institute Headquarters) and one of the first schools of “Chinese Language Education Bases” set up by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government. What’s more, China’s Hanban established an HSK test center at our school in April, 2007 and up to now, the number of candidates who have taken tests and trainings of all kinds at our center has reached 3,800.
China has made great achievements that have attracted worldwide attention in the past 30 years of reform and opening-up and every Chinese offspring is believed to be proud of the motherland. At this particular time, it seems more crucial to inherit and promote Chinese culture. Many overseas alumni in the U.S. show their care and love for the motherland and moreover, they expect their children to learn to write Chinese characters, to speak mandarin, to learn from Chinese history, and to inherit the essence of Chinese culture. They also hope their children will help realize their dream of seeking the root in China.
Considering these sincere hopes of some alumni in the U.S. and to meet their needs, our school has decided to hold the event, “Meeting at Erfuzhong— Summer Camp for Chinese Children Studying in U.S.A.”.
This time, we accept applications from candidates aged from 13 to 18, which makes it easy for them to make friends with the regular students of our school. We also offer weekend “home stay” to help them get a deeper understanding of life and study of their peers. Besides, we specially arrange a trip to Beijing to meet students’ expectations of touring around Beijing and visiting the Olympic venues.
We hope this coming summer camp will enable your children to learn and communicate freely and leisurely, enrich their knowledge, broaden their views and help them inherit Chinese culture in a lively Chinese language environment, through a series of courses and activities specializing in Chinese language study and through an experience of living with Chinese students as well.
